Studies Weekly Election is a private election. If you have received an invitation to participate you may share that invitation with other teachers.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How long will it take for students to vote if we DO NOT have a computer lab?
- Two minutes per student. After each student votes, there is a 120 second countdown until the next vote may be cast. We do this to prevent students from voting multiple times while they're waiting to exit to the computer lab or for the next student to be called up to vote.
- How long will it take for students to vote if we DO have a computer lab?
- Schools with computer labs may schedule up to 10-15 classrooms per hour to vote. Filing students in and out of the computer lab will take more time than the vote itself. Once the first class votes, the computer screens will be set up for each additional student to vote quickly and efficiently. For this reason, have your older students vote first. They'll be able to follow your instructions efficiently if the web site is not set up in advance by a member of your faculty.
- Is the election hard to set up?
- No. Three easy steps: 1) Someone needs to bring up http://www.studiesweeklyvote.com on each computer, 2) Enter the access code and select your state, and 3) the screen is ready for students to vote. If faculty members are not available to do this we recommend students in grades 4-6 to be your first voters.
- Can our school vote on a day besides Monday, November third?
- The Studies Weekly main election will be held exclusively on November third-24 hours before the adult election. Your access code will only work on that day. However, we have partnered with Woogi-World and your students may vote there at any time during the week of October 27 thru November 3. All Woogi-World votes will be included in the Studies Weekly election.
- Will we be able to see the individual results of our school's vote?
- No. Students will see the votes of other students listed by state.
- How much personal data is required to enable our school to vote?
- No personal data is required. Just your election access code printed on your mailing label and your state abbreviation.
- Can our school do a trial run?
- No, the election process is very simple and trial runs are not necessary.
- Will your computer servers be able to handle the whole national student vote without crashing?
- Yes. Our servers are configured to easily handle the votes of 15-20 million students within an 8-hour period. If traffic exceeds our expectations, more servers will be added within a few minutes.
- How often will the results of the election be updated?
- The vote tally will be refreshed every 15 minutes throughout the day. As the polls close in each time zone at 3:30 PM, the electoral map will be updated and change color depending on the winner.
- May I share my election code?
- Only with teachers in your school. Though, the election is advertised as a K-6 election, K-8 schools are welcome to allow all their students to vote. Please only allow student votes.
- Is pre-registration required?
- No. However, we encourage you to pre-register so that you may be notified of post election activities that will be available for all students who participate in the election.
- How many students will vote?
- It all depends. With five weeks left to go the response has been amazing and teachers and/or administrators of 3.4 million students are planning for their schools to vote. That number has been going up by several hundred thousand each day. We estimate at least 5 million students will vote, but plan for up to 20 million to vote. We're ready to revise that number up as needed.
- Can we order more stickers online?
- Yes. Follow the links. Orders for sticker packets received by October 22nd will be received before the election.
